Bill and Joan Hust Portrait Photography in Coeur d'Alene

Bill and Joan Hust Portrait Photography in Coeur d'Alene

You are not always able to get perfect backgrounds when a client wants the portrait photography shoot in a certain location.  I try to capture the subject with plenty of light so they are the focus and not the background. The other thing is try and use the smallest f-stop you have on the camera and increase the distance between the subject and the background.  You can also be a Photoshop guru and spend a few minuets editing it.

On these images I went with I could have use a better lens that had even lower f-stop available to blur it more.  Using the kit lens my camera came with.

Creative Real Estate pictures. Photography in HDR

Real Estate Photography

This house is hard to shoot in the summer due to being hidden by tree leaves and such.
In the winter you can see the whole thing better.  Here I was actually on a side street looking across a lawn and road to get the desired shot I liked.  The shadow caused by the trees created nice interesting shadows on the snow.  Yes I used the tree trunks to frame the shot although it took away from other parts of the picture.

Photography shoot with Model Krista Hayes in Manito Park Spokane, WA in the sun

Fun photography shoot with Model Krista Hayes in Manito Park Spokane, WA

The theme was Steampunk and overall between the models it kind of felt like The Wild Wild West movie with Will Smith.

I love the way the reflected light is on the middle section, for me it seems more natural and lets you see some of the detail that went into this outfit.  With the sun on her hair and the reflected light in the front middle there is still plenty of light on her face.

With this picture I did not think any creativity in editing would do it any justice so I left it almost 100% as shot.

I used a Canon EOS 60D with 18-200mm lens
f/5 • 1/125 sec. • ISO-125 • 70mm
No flash

Photography shoot with Model Krista Hayes in Manito Park Spokane, WA • Don't Shoot!

Fun photography shoot with Model Krista Hayes in , WA

The theme was Steampunk and overall between the models it kind of felt like The Wild Wild West movie with Will Smith.

The lighting was good good.  To fill in the shadows a bit a reflector was being used.  I think a white reflector would have been slightly better to reduce the arm yellowing.  At the time I was stealing someone else's light :-)

Here I went with a slightly older feel to give it a bit a drama.

I used a Canon EOS 60D with 18-200mm lens
f/5.6 • 1/125 sec. • ISO-200 • 90mm
No flash

Photography shoot with Model Krista Hayes in Manito Park Spokane, WA by the stone bridge

Fun photography shoot with Model Krista Hayes in Manito Park Spokane, WA

The theme was Steampunk and overall between the models it kind of felt like The Wild Wild West movie with Will Smith.

Photography is an art form and many say it should be shot and hardly edited after.  I am not the "purest" photographer and feel creativity plays an important part in creating some photographs.  I normally look at a picture and then decide if it should remain a regular hardly adjusted picture or if I should get all creative on it.   Equipment lighting and such plays a factor in how much editing you may have to do afterwards.  Better equipment less editing.

When shooting for models or companies I of course would include booth or all pictures and let them decide what they like.

At the park a stone bridge made a great background for some shots. The natural lighting was good.

Here I give it a light old photograph feel, this is a softer feel.

In this edit I give it an older fell using darker colors.  Depending on what emotion you are trying to get depends what you do with the creativity.

I used a Canon EOS 60D with 18to200mm lens
f/4.5 • 1/320 sec. • ISO-2000 • 50mm
No flash or reflector

Photography shoot with Model Krista Hayes in Manito Park Spokane, WA

Fun photography shoot with Model Krista Hayes in Manito Park Spokane, WA

The theme was Steampunk and overall between the models it kind of felt like The Wild Wild West movie with Will Smith.

This is a full color picture,

In this edit I am giving it the feeling that I had, kind of a picture taken a long time ago, maybe even a black and white that has been colored.

In the last edit I attempted to give it a feel that it is a really old photograph without too many scratches or stuff to take away from the model.

I used a Canon EOS 60D with 18to200mm lens
f/5.6 • 1/30 sec. • ISO-100 • 160mm
No flash or reflector
