Master your lighting and posing workshop July 1st 2017

Each workshop has a limited amount of spots available as we keep the workshops smaller to make sure everyone has a wonderful learning experience.
This is a PORTFOLIO BUILDING WORKSHOP, which means you get to not only learn how to create amazing images, but you have the opportunity to work with models at the workshops to create images to build your portfolio that will wow your clients and get you the business that you deserve. You get to use the images for your website, your prints, marketing and more!
This workshop is open and available to all shooters from all brands. Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji...DSLR or mirrorless it doesn't matter.
We go to REAL LOCATIONS with REAL MODELS, which means you will get REAL RESULTS.

*Posing- the ABC's of posing and how you can get the best shots out of each one of your clients.

*Lighting- how to use lighting and more importantly, WHEN to use it. Subjects covered will include; natural lighting, off camera flash, and on camera flash.

*Shooting- how to get the right exposure in different shooting environments. How to shoot in complete manual including your flash! How to set your composition to include the essentials and leave out the non-essentials.

*RELEASES ARE PROVIDED FOR EACH ATTENDEE FOR THE MODELS. THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR THE RELEASE.

In other words, there is something for everyone to be able to do based on their respective skill level. Enough to help the newer photographers without boring the more experienced ones...:)

**Weather concerns: Should the weather turn bad we will have other covered locations we can shoot in. Weather is a constant friend or foe to photographers so learning to adapt to it is critical for your learning curve. Regardless of the weather we will find a way to shoot and make it amazing. Please also note that we will always make sure everyone has the opportunity to stay comfortable.

*Please make sure to wear comfortable clothing on all shoots and use your best judgment to make sure you bring appropriate clothing to factor in the time of day you will be shooting. You might want to bring an extra pair of sandals/shoes as I have been known to get feet wet quite frequently.

*Please bring snacks and bottled water as many of the places we go will not have any services available for food and beverage. We also highly recommend to use the restroom prior to our group shoot.

Also make sure to charge all of your gear 100% prior to the shoot so you don't end up running out. Make sure to clear your memory cards and have at least 16GB available to shoot with. We personally recommend even more if you can. We will really encourage you to shoot in RAW so having the appropriate amount of memory is very important.

We can't wait to see you and look forward to an amazing time together!!!!

Professional Photographer brings great benefits to real estate listings

From redfin.com

What Professional Listing Photographers Brings to the Table.

According to a 2010 Redfin study (redfin.com), homes that are professionally photographed sell for at least $934 and as much as $18,819 more than homes photographed by an amateur. The study also shows that homes photographed by a professional garner 61 percent more online views.

The key to getting these results is in creating inspiration, according to real estate photographer Jay Groccia. Effective marketing photos are inspirational. If homebuyers perusing the Internet get inspired by a photo, “they’ll click through to the agent’s website. If they don’t, they click “back” to view the next result in the search list,” Groccia explains.
“That was it – right there – that was your opportunity to grab that buyer’s attention, and if they clicked back, you’ve lost them forever,” he cautions.

“But I Own a Really Good Camera … “

Many agents fancy themselves photographers merely because they bought a high-end camera and taught themselves how to use it. There is an art, however, to good photography. The skilled professional knows how to use composition, color and lighting to make a photo more appealing. Owning a great camera makes one no more a professional photographer than owning a Wolf range makes one a professional chef.
To illustrate this further, real estate photographer John Becker tells a story about a blues fan who attended a B.B. King concert and was able to meet him in person after the show.
“Backstage, he thanked Mr. King and said, ‘I’ve always admired that particular guitar – it sounds so good!’ Mr. King’s response was to take the guitar off his shoulder, lay it on a table, and ask, ‘How does it sound now?’”
How Much do Professional Listing Photographers Cost?
In an online real estate forum, the question of whether to use a professional photographer for listing photos was met mainly with the lament that photographers “cost too much.”
Although we can’t find a study on the average fees that a real estate photographer charges, we do know that they vary across the country, with photographers in New York being the priciest.

Hiring a professional listing photographer costs 0.09% of the median U.S. home price.

Photographers who hang out at Digital Photography Review claim that $300 to photograph the whole house – interior and exterior – is the going rate. A photographer in Montana offers a menu of options in different price ranges according to the home’s square footage. His prices start at $125 and top out at $300.
Let’s assume that you’re an average agent, working in an average market where the median sales price is the same as the national median, about $222,275, and you take one of those average listings.
If you spend just 1/10 of 1 percent of the list price to advertise the home, it would cost you $222.
Considering your commission will be $6,668 and change, $222 seems paltry, doesn’t it? Kick down just a bit more and you can hire a professional photographer.
The extra money spent to adequately market your listing pays off even after the sale. An additional benefit of drop-dead gorgeous photos is that you’ll be viewed as more professional and get more listings, hopefully with a higher price tag.

Be the Agent – Not the Photographer

Deep down inside agents understand that they can’t wear all the hats in their real estate practice and still adequately serve their clients – especially while simultaneously trying to grow their businesses. It’s the agents who delegate that typically move to the next level.
Even if you fancy yourself a budding photographer and have all the high-end equipment necessary, your time is better spent drumming up new listings and growing your business.

Real estate agents are hired to sell homes, not take photos.

“I used to believe that a good product sold itself,” admitted Phil Knight, co-founder and chairman of Nike, Inc.
Lots of real estate agents fall into the same trap. A good house will not sell itself without your assistance. Even in the best of markets, advertising your listings is essential. Your clients expect it and they’re paying you to do it right.
The next time you’re tempted to pull out your iPhone to snap listing photos, ask yourself this: Would Phil Knight whip out his point-and-shoot and snap random photos of a pile of athletic shoes to be used in Nike’s print advertising?
Your main objective is to “make them dream.” Jaw-dropping photos do that.

Creative Photography making digital art. The railway tracks.

Here I took a photograph of a railway line that is kind of cool, something about railway tracks is cool.  So I took the photograph and made it pop with creative filters and a border/frame to give it an aged appearance.
I know center and thirds rules, too bad I love the clouds and love the rails so I broke the rules

Creative Shooting and creative post for portrait photography

One thing I try is being different, right now that helps since I don't have all the lighting I need to do a perfect lighting job.  For Frontline Fitness they needed some pictures of the trainers for their web site so this is some of the ones I submitted.

You will notice the shadows on the background I just couldn't remove.

One of the points of having the line drawing is so the person doing the web site for them can use it for a mouse over effect if they are creative.

Skyline-Productions.com Coeur d'Alene Low level aerial Photogrpahy

Use unique aerial perspectives to market your properties.

Differentiate yourself from the competition!

We provide photographs and video from the ground up. The equipment we use can obtain the shots you need from small lots to ranch size properties. If you need images of a property that encompass hundreds of acres you may wish to hire an airplane. We don't rely on balloons that can be hard to get into certain locations and currently there is a problem with the shortage of helium.
The equipment we use can get into areas to get the shots that are needed and be done quickly with the professional quality you expect.
You can use these aerial pictures and video in everything from Real Estate to amazing video of your big event.
Aerial photography from aircraft is expensive. We can provide close-up shots rather than just photographs looking straight down such as satellites and aircraft for far less than the cost of traditional aerial photography.
•Give your listings extraordinarily awesome views
•Offer elevated views to sellers to gain a competitive advantage
•Redeem older listings with professional shots and unique angles
•Prints can make great appreciation gifts for sellers or new owners
•Great for large lots, lakeside properties, commercial areas, golf courses
•Capture hill property to show everything you cannot see from the ground
Would you like to show a neighborhood from a better view than you can get from satellite imaging?
We can help!
